Using the Card

Where can I use my Star gift card?

Visit https://www.star.com.au/ for a full list of participating venues at The Star Sydney, The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane.

Do I need to activate my gift card?

All physical gift cards arrive ready for use and do not need to be activated.

Digital gift cards will be activated upon purchase at point of sale. Please allow up to 24 hours from time of purchase for funds to be loaded on to the digital card.

How do I use my Star gift card?

Your Star gift card can be used just like an eftpos card. Simply present either your physical gift card or digital gift card at the participating venue and either swipe or scan the card through the participating outlet’s eftpos terminal. Physical gift cards require you to select “savings” and then enter the “PIN” on the back of your card. Digital gift cards will automatically process when scanned.

If the transaction amount exceeds the card’s balance, you will need to pay for the remaining amount via cash or card.

How do I use my digital gift card once it’s in my mobile wallet?

Simply present your card in store at any of the participating venues and use it to pay for a purchase.

Open your digital wallet on your phone and select the card. Hold your mobile close to the eftpos terminal. The terminal should recognise the card and your phone will prompt you to enter your passcode (this is your phone’s pin number). The terminal should process the payment and you will receive a confirmation on your phone.

If the transaction amount exceeds the balance remaining on your card, you will be liable to pay for the difference.

Do I need to present my gift card at the participating venue to use the card?

Yes, to use your Star gift card, whether it is a digital gift card or a physical gift card, you will need to present it to the participating venue so that it can be swiped or scanned through their eftpos terminal.

Do I earn Casino Dollars and Tier Points when purchasing The Star Gift Card?

No. Members of The Star Club do not earn member benefits when purchasing The Star Gift Card.

Do I earn Casino Dollars and Tier Points when using The Star Gift Card as a payment method?

Yes. Members of The Star Club can earn both Casino Dollars and Tier Points for purchases made with The Star Gift Card at participating venues, when using their Membership Card. See https://www.star.com.au/ for participating outlets.

If my transaction is greater than the amount on my gift card, can I pay the rest with cash or credit card?

Yes, you can.

Do I need to spend my gift card all in one transaction or with one retailer?

No. You can choose how and where you spend your gift card. Any remaining balance after your transaction will stay on your card as long as it’s valid and can be used for future purchases.

What happens if I do not use the full amount of my gift card in one transaction?

Your gift card is multi-usable and you can use it for future purchases prior to the expiry date.

Are there any restrictions on when I can use my gift card?

Your gift card will only be accepted at participating venues, prior to the expiry of the gift card. See https://www.star.com.au/ for participating outlets.

If I want to use my gift card at a restaurant or spa, do I need to make a booking?

Some of our participating venues may require you to book a time prior to your visit. We recommend you contact the venue for further details.

I want to use my gift card for a hotel booking?

Hotel guests will be required to present their Star gift card on check-in and provide their own credit card as a security deposit.

Can I reload my gift card?

No, gift cards are not reloadable.

Do I receive change on a gift card transaction?

No, but your gift card can be used again prior to the expiry date and until the balance reaches a nil value.

Do gift cards expire?

Yes. Your gift card is valid for 36 months from the date of purchase. Some gift cards for promotions might have a shorter expiry date. This will be included in the promotional terms and conditions. If the date is not written on the back of the card, it is your responsibility to check your card balance and expiry date on the website.

What happens if I have not used all the funds when the gift card expires?

Once the gift card has expired, the remaining value will no longer be available. We encourage you to use your gift card before it expires.

Can I use my gift card to withdraw cash out of an ATM at The Star?

No. You can only use your gift card for purchases at participating venues. See https://www.star.com.au/ for participating outlets.

Buying the Card

Where can I buy The Star gift card from?

Click here to buy Star gift cards online. Please note when purchasing a gift card online that you as a customer may be asked to enter a second authentication by your financial organisation to verify your identity. This process of authentication is directly between you and your bank.

You can also purchase physical gift cards from:

  • The Star Gold Coast – Gift shop
  • Treasury Brisbane – Treasury Hotel reception

Can I buy Star gift cards from the participating venues accepting the cards?

No. Star gift cards can be purchased here and physical gift cards may be purchased from these venues:

  • The Star Gold Coast – Gift shop
  • Treasury Brisbane – Treasury Hotel reception

Can I buy gift cards in any denomination?

Yes, Star gift cards can be purchased in any denomination from $50 to $1000. For gift cards over $1000 please contact us via email - stargiftcards@star.com.au

How long does it take for a gift card to be delivered if I ordered online?

Physical gift cards purchased online are dispatched within 1-2 business days after payment is processed. All physical gift cards are sent using the services of Australia Post. For express post, the estimated delivery time is 2 – 5 business days with tracking available. Postage timeframes are subject to change and the actual delivery speed will depend on where in each state or territory the item is being posted to, the level of restrictions and congestion in the Australia Post delivery network at the relevant time. Please note in peak periods such as Christmas, additional delivery time may be required.Express post is recommended to provided tracking of parcel as lost standard post deliveries will not be refunded.

Digital gift cards are dispatched after payment is processed. All digital gift cards are sent by email. The digital gift card will be activated upon purchase at point of sale. Please allow up to 24 hours from time of purchase for funds to be loaded on to the digital card.

Do gift cards work if I buy it in Brisbane, but want to use it in Sydney?

Yes. Star gift cards and Treasury Brisbane gift cards can be redeemed at any participating venue across The Star Sydney, The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane.

Can I get a refund or exchange on my gift card purchase?

All purchases made are final. Please ensure you double check your order carefully before submitting as we do not offer refunds for duplicated orders. Please choose carefully as we do not offer cancellations, exchanges or refunds.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment via Visa, Mastercard and American Express. International credit or debit cards are not accepted.

How do I place a corporate or bulk order?

Issues With Your Card

What can I do if my gift card gets stolen, lost or damaged?

Star gift cards should be treated like cash and kept in a secure place. We unfortunately cannot replace a lost, stolen or damaged card under any circumstance. Please see our terms and conditions for further details.

What do I do if my gift card is not accepted for payment?

Check out the following reasons why your card might not work:

  • The balance you have nominated is not available. You can check your card balance here.
  • Your gift card has expired. Gift cards have a 36 month expiry, which can be calculated from the date of issue. You can check your expiry here.
  • The venue you have tried to use your gift card at is not a participatingvenue. You can view participating venues here.

Should your card not work, but it has funds, hasn’t expired and you attempted to use it at a participating merchant, please email us at stargiftcards@star.com.au.

What can I do if I experience issues with a gift card purchased second hand or from an uncertified third party seller?

The Star gift cards are available for purchase from selected venues across our three properties – The Star Sydney, The Star Gold Coast and Treasury Brisbane only. We cannot guarantee the validity of any gift card purchased from any other outlet – including any auction website or discount website. Any gift card not purchased from a certified venue may be fake or counterfeit or associated with fraudulent activity. The Star Entertainment Group is not liable to you or any other person for any loss arising from the purchase of our gift cards from a venue who is not listed as a participating seller.
